I am a diamond elite member and once again, could not get an upgrade as is suppose to be one of the perks of this status. I would recommend driving the extra distance and staying there instead.Ĩ.39km from downtown Serena was great at check in. In this area there is several restaurants, shopping, a Target and Walmart are near by. 100 times better! The place was clean, friendly staff and in a much better neighborhood. I ended up going to the extended stay America in Merrillville, IN that is about 30 minutes away. I plan to attempt to email the company again later regarding refunding my deposit once the website is working. I was told the deposit is nonrefundable and there is nothing they can do. Due to this I contacted my company and they stated to ask for a refund of the deposit and cancel the reservation. The fridge did not feel cold and I honestly don't think they were up to health standards to store food. The rooms I walked into the fridges were making a loud banging noise and I was told they only work on the lowest setting.

We finally settled on no pictures and they let me see two rooms. I had an argument with the the front desk about this as they stated per hotel policy they cannot let me take pictures to send to my company. Per their instruction they told me to ask to see a room and see if it was up to standards for such a long stay. This set off a red flag and called my company. When I asked for help I was told they do not have the staff to help me bring belongings up, but to make it easier they would put me on the second floor. Minor inconvenience as I had a lot of belongings with me since I'm here on business for 3 months. Once I approached the front desk, with a dirty lobby, I was told their elevator was broken and the only open rooms they had were on the second floor and up. Upon arrival the area looked a little sketchy, but not anything worse than where I've stayed previously. My advice is to keep driving and find a different hotel.ħ.4km from downtown I tried to write a complaint review through the actual website, but each time I try to submit it gives me an error message and to try again later. I would not stay here again even if it was free. The janitorial staff needs to step up their game and do their job. Whom ever cleans the rooms does a wonderful job of making the beds and that is all.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is easy location on and off the interstate, and a very pleasant desk clerk. I have had a deep cough ever since I stayed in the room from the mold. All in all the stay here was terrible and stressful. I am glad I didn't have to exit during a fire as this was the closest exit to my room 125. The emergency exit door did not open without sticking my finger in the latch to press the catch back. It looked like it had been there for a while because of the dust and lint that was piled around them. Building materials were stored under the stairs by the emergency exit. I just had hot tea which was at best room temperature. The "fresh" fruit was all bruised and squishy. There was some stale bread and eggo style waffles which looked as Moses himself had baked. Due to cleanliness of the bathroom I didn't shower there. The bed was comfortable and the pillows we're fluffy. The sheets were clean and the beds looked to be made by a drill sergeant, no complaints there. When entering the room at first glance it looked ok, but when took my shoes off I saw and felt the floor was sticky and under the bedside table there was black mold growing on the wall. Room doors were soiled with old sticky tape from room numbers that had been replaced long ago. It was a kind of closed up forever smell. There was an odor like I had just walked in to my grandparents old house. The walk to the room was littered with stained and bleached out carpet. 4.47km from downtown Upon check in the desk clerk,Christine, was very pleasant and easy to talk to.
